Her career in acting started in India. In 2009, she was spotted on the ‘Miss Teen World’ website and was offered to audition for the Tamil drama film, ‘Madrasapattinam’. She was casted opposite the popular actor, Arya. Amy did admit that learning Tamil was a heavy task for her. The film was released in July 2010 and received a good response from the critics and was a commercial success as well. Amy was praised for her performance and was also nominated for the ‘Vijay Award’ in the Best Debut Actress category for her role. In 2011, Amy took a new movie by Gautham Menon in which she was casted as the female lead opposite Prateik Babbar. It was her Bollywood debut and she had to portray the role of a Malayali Christian girl who falls in love with a Hindu boy. This movie was the remake of the 2010 hit romantic drama movie ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’. The film was released in February 2012, which received a mixed response from the audience as well as from the critics. But, Amy’s performance and her chemistry with her co-actor were praised a lot. In 2012, she shifted back to Tamil cinema where she had to play a supporting character in the movie ‘Thaandavam’. The male lead in the movie was the South superstar Vikram.
